Extra credit

1)The man killed by the subway was pushed onto the tracks and couldn't get up, the photographer took the photos trying to warn the subway driver
2) the photographer claims he took the photo to warn the subway driver
3) i do not think he should have taken the photo and especially posted it
4) i think he should have put down the camera and tried to help him up, i don't think its respectful to the mans family
5)i do not think the photo should have been posted, imagine how the family feels seeing the last photo of him about to be run over while nobody helped
6) i think capturing photos because in this case he took photos instead of helping him up
8) i don't think they should avoid incidents but if they can help rather than photograph i think thats more respectful
9) a lot of people called them heartless and they were calling this photographer the same

100 photos

A Man on the Moon

I picked this photo because everyone knows about it, its very popular. In the article i read why this photo stood out more than the other, the reflection of the photographer Neil was in the background aka as a refection in the astronauts mask. it was a single shot of the astronaut standing looking at the photographer.

Neil also took this photo which i found interesting because its really remarkable how the foot prints are on the moon.

Philippe Kahn
First Cell-Phone Picture

1) i picked this image because it was the first photo taken with a cell phone which is crazy because now all we really use are cellphones
2) In the article it talks about how he was shooting his wife during labor and created a device so he could share his new baby with his friends and family. His invention altered how we use technology.
3) he created it with  his cell phone and his camera and a code on the laptop.

5)Philippe Kahn

education- ETH Zurich

Lewis Hine
Girl Worker in Carolina Cotton Mill 1) this photography caught my eye because it is a little girl working in a factory.
2) Lewis believed that taking these photos would change child labor laws and show everyone how cruel it is. he lied to get into factories to get actual photographs of the children at work.
3) in the video the children are dusty and dirty and are working in the fields and at factories Image result for lewis hine     4) this is a important photograph because the little girl is in the fields and is carrying two buckets.
5) Lewis Hine
born September 26th 1874- Oshkosh, WI
died November 3rd 1940
education Colombia university

Stanley Forman
 Fire Escape Collapse
1) i chose this photo because the woman and the baby are falling as well as the fire escape that collapsed
2) The article explained how the photographer went to a  burning building and the woman and the child were going on a fire escape to be rescued when it collapsed. The photographer turned away not wanting to see when the woman hit the ground but managed to get this photo.
3) it doesn't have additional info
4)  Image result for stanley forman photographer i thought this photo was interesting because the woman looks scared and the man is on his way to help her.
5) Stanley Forman

Co Rentmeester

Fashion

1) in the video the models:
1)eyes were made bigger
2)her face was made thinner
3)her neck was made higher
4) her hair was adjusted.

2) the models body was changed by:
1) enlarging her eyes
2)making her nose thinner
3) making her body thinner
4) her legs thinner and longer
5) her neck longer
6) she was made paler

3) the models body was changed by:
1) making her waist slimmer
2) making her legs slimmer
3) making her arms thinner

4) is  it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like these in a photo? Why or why not?

i don't think so, i understand some photoshop to make the photo look better but when they change the entire body shape and head size and skin tone i believe that is too much.

5) i think if someone is offended by photoshop changing their body shape or skin tone could highly offend them.
6) i think changing like blemishes, like acne and such like that is okay but the entire body shape and skin tone is a bit much.
7) fashion is more models and editing them to sell products such as makeup, photo journalism is nature, environment  and people as well but not so much photoshop like fashion.
8) fashion is for the models and photography is a job but as well a hobby for some people
9) i think we are viewing these to show us how the photoshop industry works.
10) only girl are showed bc they photoshop to fix their bodies and everything like that.

self portraits pt.1

Play With Backgrounds

1. Alter Your Perspective

. Shoot Candidly

Environmental portrait:

i liked this because it is the man working in what seems to be cramberries and this is his environment.

i liked this photo because it is a swimmer in her environment in the pool with her goggles on and swim cap.

Self portrait:
i liked this photo because its black and white and she is wearing a black top that matches the background so the focus is clear.
I like this photo because half of her face is lighted up and she is crying, its a really good and interesting photograph.
Casual portrait:
I picked this because the kids are just casually playing in the grass, taken like a candid.

I like this photo because it doesn't look casual but the background and how both of the parents are holding the kids is a nice photograph.

Self portrait

For my self portrait i want to shoot my friend Lauryn in her soccer gear at a soccer field, i want to do it around six because i think the sky looks really pretty before it goes dark. For my self portrait i want to take it in my bedroom with my soccer metals on because i love to spend time in my room watching tv in my own space and my soccer metals because i play soccer

American soldier

1)The most powerful image was the photo of them with guns and it looked all dusty in the background because we can see how it was and the emotion on their faces.
2) The images work together to show a story because they show their journey over time, from before leaving to being in the army.
3) it helps us know the emotions going through them and helps us understand the photograph.
4) he goes to the army and it shows us him going through it all and all that stuff.
5) no they are shorter

1) they are usually 2 or 3 sentences
2)it provides information of what the pic is, who is in it and where it is.
3) it tells us what we can't see in the picture
4) more information about the photograph
5) a few of them include a  quote but short ones
6) not many
i think pictures are very loud so i think yes you can tell a story from just photo and captions

Warm up 10-24-16

1) The emotion i felt looking at these photos was sadness, it was sad to see the photographs and at the end
2) the photos are how the couple lived their life, thats why he says it is us because it is their life
3) if i were in this situation i think i could, but personally i wouldn't think about photographing the moment
4) if i could write him a letter i would tell him how beautiful it is to capture these photos and also sorry for his loss

Abandoned amusement parks

1) The park i would like to visit is the six flags in New Orleans because it seems creepy how no one has done anything to it like try to open it again or take everything out especially since its been a few years. what made me want to go there is how I've been to New Orleans many times before and didn't  know about this so its creepy and cool what the photographs showed.Image result for new orleans six flags

3) i think abandoned towns, wildlife like the photographer in Africa, a abandoned hospital, abandoned old people home and abandoned insane asylums would be cool places to take photos
4)Image result for abandoned insane asylums abandoned insane  asylums
5) i think it would be cool to shoot because some of the photos i saw had writing on the walls but it wasn't graffiti so it was interesting but also creepy to look at and photograph. i would expect to shoot old rusty hospital beds and old rooms with the building all rusted and torn down.
6) if i would shoot here i would have to first find a abandoned place, pay for my expenses to travel there and such and also take someone with me because i get scared easily, i have my own camera so i wouldn't have to pay for a camera, but laws I'm sure it would be trespassing so that would be a big problem because i wouldn't want to get arrested.
